Hello and welcome to yet another InfoSecurity World tutorial. This post is based on the Windows 7 'GodMode' panel. Windows 7 comes with many hacks, cheats and tweaks. This bonus lesson will teach you how to create Windows 7 GodMode.
GodMode works a lot like the Windows Control Panel, however, GodMode makes finding things on your computer easy. In example, lets say I asked you to find the Customer Experience Improvement Program Settings, would you know where to go? Probably not. Well having this master control panel will make it easier to find things on the computer.
When you have mastered the below steps, this is what GodMode will look like:
The How-To Guide
Step 1 Create a new folder on the desktop
- (Right click > New > Folder), pretty simple.
Step 2 Insert code into the folder's properties
- Right click folder > Properties > General and re-name the folder to GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} - copy the BOLD.
Step 3 Now you're done! What next?
- When you have applied the folder changes, find "GodMode" on the desktop and open it.
- When the folder is open, find the Customer Experience Improvement Program Settings under the heading Action Centre.
- When you have found this, click "No, I don't want to participate in the program". This is an opt-out feature provided by Microsoft. Basically, un-checking this option will stop Microsoft from collecting data about your computer, how it is used, when and how long you are on for, etc. For the above reasons, this is why I personally opt-out from this.
Warnings
- GodMode works in Windows Vista also. However there has been reports tha it can cause Vista x64 bit to become unstable or even crash. Please keep that in mind before you set up GodMode. For Windows 7 - both 32 and 64 bit systems are fine from my findings.
